Literacy Narrative: My Realization Writing is one aspect of school that I have always thought was my strength. I received A’s on all of my papers. Sentences would flow easily from my brain, through my fingers to the keyboard, and onto the computer. Writing was enjoyable because it was one thing in school that did not seem like work. My peers would come to me for advice and help. I thought that my writing skills were splendid and did not need much improvement, at least until the first day of my junior year when I took Creative Writing. The first day of my junior year was great, at least up until fourth hour. As I walked into my Creative Writing class, I was confident and ready to show off my writing skills. The teacher immediately assigned a three page story assignment. I immediately got to writing, and like always, sentences easily formed in my mind. I wrote nonstop for the duration of the hour and continued to write my story for the next two days. On Friday, I began to type my story on the computer. Anger quickly flooded my mind. Most of the mistakes on my paper were not of punctuation and grammar mistakes but instead, of my actual writing itself! I was offended and did not understand what I did wrong. The next day I went to my Creative Writing teacher and asked why I received the score I did. I was not expecting what she told me. She said, “Sam, you are a strong writer, you and I both know that, but you have not reached your full potential. You are capable of greatness and I want you to become the best writer that you can be. I am going to push you to your limits.” I stood there with a blank expression on my face for probably an entire minute. I said, “thank you” and quickly walked out of the
