When I was 14 I read somewhere that “Just as the pure white lotus flower blooms unsoiled in muddy water, our lives, which are supremely noble, can continue to shine even amid life’s harshest difficulties”, which enlightened me that life is a struggle and how a person just like the lotus in a muddy water can grow from it and make a difference. I was 3 when I was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease, in lay man’s language a hole in the heart. It was hard to diagnose what exactly was wrong with my health as the technology available at the time was not advanced enough. After a lot of treatments and tests, one of my grandfathers’ friend who was a doctor asked my mom to get my heart tested. When the results came in there was a hole in one of the most important organs of the body staring back with guilt for causing deterioration in my health. I NEED TO EXPAND HERE A LITTLE.
The procedure to remedy this problem was to undergo an open heart surgery. Considering the fact I was 3, I have minimum recollection of the surgery other than a scar which was a constant reminder of what difficulties me and my family had to go through for my good health. I will always be in debt of the doctor who helped diagnose me in time and prevented further complications.
