My dad has many friends, some I got to know better than others. One in particular that has had an impact on me was his friend, Melvin Farmer. Mr. Melvin is a quiet man; he doesn’t shout, doesn’t get agitated easily and is very polite. But he will tell you like it is, no matter what. He has done a lot, and you wouldn’t know it by looking at him but he’s achieved a lot as well. Melvin Farmer was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on the eighth of May at Grady hospital in 1976. He was raised in Smyrna, Georgia about 15 minutes from the city of Atlanta itself. The city of Smyrna is very small, but always growing due to its location near Atlanta and Dobbins Air force base. Growing up in Smyrna you had a few options for schools. You either went to South Cobb High School, Campbell High School or Osborne High School. As Mr. Melvin explains it; “Osborne was horrible, if you went there, what could you do to get out? Melvin. He was deployed in the Middle East until 2001. In 2001, he would then be sent up to Romania. Mr. Melvin and Ms. Chyna had their first son KJ Farmer born November 27th. They lived in Romania for five years they would then move back to the United States in 2006. Once here Mr. Melvin would end up becoming a recruiting officer for the Army, helping our nation. Two years after being stateside he would get deployed again back to Iraq to help the troops over seas. “I dint wan to go, I just had my second child and everything was look good for me.
