I don 't know what went wrong with our plan that night. All I know is that He somehow knew what we were up to. We had composed the plan so well yet it still wasn 't enough to kill Him. We thought we had Icor, but as always, he was one step ahead of us. After that last thought, what was left of the Scavengers started gather up all of the useful remains from yet another failed plan. Like all of the others, I started to pick up ammo, guns, water, food, anything still useful that was dropped by the fallen Scavengers. I had picked up a couple of half-full magazines and a few pistols when I saw him. The one person I was supposed to protect since he was born, Derek, lied on the pitcher’s mound with eyes wide open, and a bullet hole in the center of his throat. It was almost an awkward moment for me. I didn 't start yelling and crying. I just stood there, with a blank face, staring at the limp body of my little brother. My mind was swirling with memories I had with Derek. The time we got an airsoft gun and starting shooting our neighbor’s windows without Dad knowing. Or when we almost burned the house down by trying to cook some Ramen noodles. As I stared at my deceased brother, I noticed a scar on his left cheek that I have never seen before. And I had just seen him about two hours ago. Derek had a scar on his cheek, but it was on his right one. After a moment, I just ignored the thought. “I saw it happen,” said Angela who suddenly now stood beside me. I didn 't even realize she
