Since the Original Six, the National Hockey League has exploded into a very competitive league. The game has changed dramatically with different styles of play and physicality. Since the Inaugural season of the NHL in 1917, the league has seen thousands of talented players but hockey is a team sport. Over the years, we have seen great players and teams, but with team play some teams are lucky and possess a gift. The gift is two players that share chemistry and dominance. Teams who wins usually have a duo that is unstoppable: Phil Esposito and Bobby Orr. The Great Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier. The unstoppable Jaromir Jagr and Mario Lemieux. Not every team has high-end talent on their front line, but the League is filled with tons of duos: Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. Back to Crosby and Malkin or Backstrom and Ovechkin. The duo that keeps making the postseasons and making goalies have nightmares are two guys that have been playing since their junior hockey days in Canada. They can do everything offense and defense. They have the size to be unstoppable on offense and be an annoying pain on defense that will never go away. The Anaheim Ducks were gifted when they drafted both Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry in the 2003 NHL Draft. In the past, the best duos have come from the same draft. For instance in 1989, the Quebec Nordiques selected Mats Sundin and Adam Foote in the same draft. Also, the Tampa Bay Lightning selected Vincent Lecavalier and Brad Richards in 1998. But since 2003, really 2005 due to the 2004 lockout, Getzlaf, and Perry have led Anaheim to victory and many playoff wins. In 2007 “The Kid” line, Perry, Getzlaf, and Dustin Penner helped the veteran Ducks capture its first Stanley Cup championship. They are just a force to be reckoned with. Since their first full year in 2006, Getzlaf and Perry have been shredding the leader boards and are looking to continue their Hall of Fame careers. Corey Perry has been a five-time All-Star and also got a few trophies under his belt. In his best year, 2010-2011, he was the leading goal scorer in the league which won Perry The Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy, and also the Hart Memorial Trophy, The Most Valuable Player to his Team. According to NHL statistics since the 2006-2007 season, Perry is ranked in the top 20 in points, fourth in goals scored, sixth in game-winning goals, top 20 in overtime goals and also top 20 in playoff points. Therefore comes the nickname, Scorey Perry. Ryan Getzlaf has also been a very valuable player in the past decade. Getzlaf has been a four-time All-Star and also broke a few franchise records. Even though he hasn’t brought any personal trophies in, Getzlaf has been dominating the league for years. Since the 2006-2007 season, Getzlaf is ranked ninth in points in the league, sixth in assists, ninth in playoff points, top 30 goal scorer, top 25 in game-winning goals and top 20 in overtime
