National Honors Society Application Essay
I have demonstrated and continue to demonstrate character at Commonwealth Academy and in my local community. I have been Involved in a variety of organizations in my community in which I have been a leader and active participant. Such activities include clubs, sports, jobs, and service opportunities. I am passionate about being an involved member of my community and hope to expand and continue my involvement.
In the ninth grade I participated in many sports and clubs. I was on the cross country team which very involved in community service. Through cross country I joined the key club which organized events around the school and In the community. While in the key club I took on a leadership role and

I team managed for most of the season until schoolwork forced me to stop and focus on my grades. Although I was unable to fully see the season through, team managing was a wonderful opportunity that allowed me to be part of the team and the school community. At the beginning of tenth grade I also was able to volunteer at a local daycare center for children that were victims of domestic abuse. This was an incredibly eye opening experience that truly allowed me to help those less fortunate them myself and appreciate what something as simple as daycare can do to help those in need. About halfway through the school year at west potomac I was struggling with deep depression and had a total lack of motivation and had an extremely difficult time participating in school and other activities. Because of this I was out of school for two months which was undeniably the hardest thing i've gone through to date. West potomac was unable to provide the support I needed during this time which is why I looked for another school and ended up coming to Commonwealth Academy. I have now been at this school for a year and have benefitted greatly from our close knit community and support
