The great and courageous Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?" I deem this to be a vital question that everyone should ask themselves. I wholeheartedly agree that serving others expresses embracement and impacts your community in a positive light. Therefore, I've made it my duty to be thoroughly involved in my school and throughout my community. During my years of high school, I have been involved in a plethora of activities. Freshman year, I participated in FBLA and the Debate Club. Sophomore year, I held the position as SGA Treasurer and co-captain of the cheerleading team. Junior year, I was involved in the Technical Theater magnet department, in which I helped managed lights, sound, costumes, and props during the plays/productions held at our school. I have done countless hours of community service and do not plan on stopping any time soon. I am mainly involved with TCLBAF (Tri-Cities Lady Bulldogs Athletic Foundation) Inc., where our mission is to mentor youth in our community. We expose them to a numerous amount of sports and performing arts opportunities and also assist with their academic needs (tutoring, helping with school work, etc). Being a high school student myself, I deem this organization to be very beneficial. Along with TCLBAF, I’ve volunteered with the AVID department at my school. AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college preparatory class that helps with organizational skills and tips on how to prepare for college. Outside of the class setting, we help clean up throughout the communities within the Southside of Atlanta.
