I was excited knowing I was eligible to join the National Honor Society but when I read the topic, I was shocked as to how hard it was writing about myself. Leadership is one of the most useful skills a student may have, which allows you to influence people and lead them to complete tasks successfully. In my case, I have always embraced and used my leadership skills to successfully achieve community/club goals.
My first leadership position was in Gaming Club at ECAS during the school year of 2014-15, when I was elected as Vice President. Along with the president of the club and the rest of the club council, we built the club from scratch. Everything was going as planned, until the president and the club council began to slack, that’s when I decided to step in. I immediately talked and encouraged all the club council members to attend future meeting to achieve our goals. I then assembled and organized all meeting in order to finish planned events and our calendar. In meetings, I presented information and asked for opinions to reach an agreement. As the club was formed and the council was elected, I announced the first meeting to start icebreakers between the council members and myself. From day one, I established rules on how discussions shall be operated in order to prevent any negative feeling. I conducted the meetings, which included planning of events, shirt designs, and our calendar. Throughout the year, I continually pushed and inspired members to finish our planning. We discussed ideas and expressed our opinions to come to a compromise. Normally there would be disagreements between council members, which I would stop abruptly and for them to achieve a comprise in order to continue.
