Being a National Honors Society member is considered to be an academic achievement, but it also shows how a person is as a person. I believe that I am an example of the branches of National Honors Society: leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Leadership is considered the first branch of National Honors Society, showing the ability to lead and be a positive example in academics and school activities. I exemplify this by involving myself in my church and other school activities. At my church, St. Thomas United Church of Christ (UCC), I am the youth delegate for Consistory, or the governing body of the church. I have been a black belt in Tae Kwon Do for 5 years, which requires assisting in running classes and teaching the lower belts their material they need to know. At school, I am involved in marching band, band, choir, and the spring musical. Volunteering time at church and school have become a major part of what I do. The youth group I belong to at St. Thomas UCC collects items and put together hygiene bags for the YWCA. For school, I often volunteer to help with the bands, working in the kitchen for Indoor Drumline shows and helping to set up the Craft Show. I also assist my classmates if they request it. If a student is absent, I will take responsibility to send them notes they may have missed in class, and also what they homework is so they can attempt to do it. Also, in Algebra II, some classmates will ask me about a concept, and I will gladly help them in any way I can. I also donate money to Four Diamonds and other school or club fundraisers when there is a chance so that other clubs have the opportunity to do more, and the money given to Four Diamonds goes to a great organization to help the
