I am grateful to have encountered the National Society of Leadership and Success in my life. It is a pleasure to be the President of the San Juan College NSLS chapter. It has been a great semester so far. I truly believe in the society’s mission statement considering it has helped student members at San Juan College. My favorite event that the society has as a requirement for induction are the SNTs. I say this since it was through an SNT that helped make this community project happen. I began a donation based event on gathering shower packs for the Stand Down event at San Juan College in Farmington, NM.

We all live in the same place which makes us have that in common. Some of my fellow community members need help, so why not help them by donating at least one travel size shower pack item. On my presentation at the student government business meeting I mentioned that I want to make this shower pack donation event a tradition. That every year we the people of Farmington do this again. This can make my community stronger and healthier in the long run. The next week after the meeting I reached out to the SJC High School Coordinators and introduced them to Chris so he can inform them about the donation event. After that day a few SJC high school students worked with Chris and helped set up our booth the day after the event. Chris, reached out to our SJC executive director, Gale Dean, who reached out to the local hospital and asked for donations. In the end, with the help of NSLS members, San Juan College Student Activities, San Juan College High School and the local hospital, we raised approximately 100 shower packs for the day of the event. We had five to six boxes filled with men and women socks, underwear, bras, flip flops and towels donated from an unknown
