Natural selection is the bases for understanding how species change overtime. It is the adaption of an organism to its environment in order to survive and reproduce. According to Darwin’s theory natural selection is “survival of the fittest” which means only the fastest, strongest and fittest among the group survives for example the strongest and fastest Panthera tigriss (tiger) in the region survives and the slow and weak Panthera tigriss suffers finding food. Natural selection is directly connected to evolution as evolution mainly takes place because of natural selection. When natural selection takes place mutation in species also take place and this causes evolution. There are four factors which are necessary for natural selection to take …show more content…

For example we find different types of elephants like African elephants, Asian elephants and many more types of elephants. These are all variations of elephants. The elephants living in Africa (Loxodonta africana) live in a different climate and environment than the elephants living in Asia (Elephas maximus) and this cause in variation in the appearance of the elephants. Increased variations of traits in a population actually increases the chances of survival as even if a part of the population is wiped out there are still some individuals with the same traits to continue the species by reproducing and …show more content…

The traits they have will be passed down to the next generation after reproduction and the species as a whole will become stronger as the individuals are not suitable for the climate will not reproduce. Therefore, there will only be strong individuals in the coming generation. More individuals will have the traits and will survive till the environmental conditions are beneficial to the individuals. For example a generation of Panthera tigriss has all the beneficial traits and they are passed down to the next generation but the climate is not suitable for the traits passed down then the generation will not survive. This is the purpose of Natural Selection. The tool for evolution and formation of new species is dependent upon these aspects to make it
