Recommended: Darwin’s theory and Creationism

The term irreducibly complex was invented by a biochemist Michael Behe to explain that highly complex biological systems need all their individual parts to function properly. They could not have been developed through natural processes. It is quite difficult for such a system to work at all with the loss of any individual parts. The term becomes well known to application in biological systems, but seems to refute Darwin’s theory of evolution. For example, many biochemical pathways involve enzymes working to accelerate various reactions in the body. Scientists have been puzzled about the origin of such a process. Darwin’s descent with modification is explained as small changes or modifications that occur in organisms over time. Evolution is not a rapid process, but rather takes years to develop. This mechanism explains the origin of various species and how they might have changed gradually over time. The figure 2.15 in the book illustrates facts that Darwin used to support natural selection. An environment tends to have more individuals than available resources. This indeed leads to competition among individuals in the population. Individuals that survive and reproduce because variations will more likely pass these traits to their offspring. The four postulates in video are similar to Darwin logical explanation of natural selection and therefore will lead to the same conclusion. These variations help some organisms to reproduce and survive while others may lose fitness. Creationists believe complex structure of living things are the manifestation of a divine creator.
