The Red Badge of Courage, a fictional novel about a boy in the American Civil War by Stephen Crane. Throughout this story Crane uses naturalism to support the story and characters. The novel is about a young private of the Union Army, named Henry Fleming, who flees from the battlefield, but later, shameful of his actions, he longs for a wound, a "red badge of courage," to counteract his cowardice, hence the name The Red Badge of Courage.
