The nature vs. nurture debate continues today with behaviors being genetic or acquired characteristics. “To accept God as the source of morality, the person must believe that God exists, that God is a just and moral being and that God created the universe and its inhabitants to reflect His moral character” (Batson & Neff, 2012, p.4) If everyone believed this way the secular side of philosophical arguments citing human reason or characteristics as the single source for honest principles lend themselves to a divine source of ethical values. It is written, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In Love” Ephesians 1:4 (NIV). It is written in the Old Testament on principles of justice (God’s measuring line), impartiality, veracity, and accuracy of information. Again in the New Testament, man is reminded to imitate Christ. The Bible says, “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV). The Bible teaches with the ethics of love or agape, it requires management to be an instrument to those around them. By being empowered by the Holy Spirit, Christians live with holiness in their heart, by practicing and demonstrating ethical justice, impartiality, integrity and love. With impartiality Christians learn “There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism Romans 2:9-11 (NIV). As Christians in today society, it is important in a leadership position to plan, staff, control, organize, and direct, having a solid foundation of ethics is
