Navajo Code Talkers During World War II, the United States, along with their allies, came up with secret codes that they could use for communication during important missions. They used these secret codes to discuss their next moves or to give updates on enemy whereabouts. Almost all of the codes they tried were broken apart by the enemy, so they were no longer useful or usable. Philip Johnston came up with the idea to use the complicated Navajo language to communicate in the war. The usage of the Navajo code was placed in the war at a very good time. Since the communication code was so complex, it took a while for someone to be able to learn and perfect it. The enemies didn’t have enough time to learn the code to be able to solve it because it was so complex. This gave the United States and their allies a huge advantage in the war. Now they wouldn’t have to worry about if their code being used for communication was strong enough to withstand enemies who were trying to break it. Strategy is a good thing to have when you are fighting a war. The people who were able to speak the Navajo code were placed mainly with the Marines (navajopeople.org). That way they could communicate amongst each other overseas or on land if anything went wrong or if there was a need to change plans. Every other strategy that was used for secret communication failed. They were torn apart by the enemy lines. The Navajo code was the only communication strategy that stood strong against enemy lines. The strategies that were formed could now be fulfilled because of the strong
