With great honor, I was granted the opportunity to meet and talk with Admiral William H. McRaven. When describing my life goals and elaborate plans for achieving them, he reminded me, “if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.” As simple as his quote, it rang true to me that I must take my obstacles before me, even if insignificant, and overcome them each as determined and enthusiastic as the former. I have had the opportunity of graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences. I was initially debated on what this degree could offer for me. As I advanced into senior level courses on the impact of policy and management efforts towards the betterment society, I found that the most fulfilling career is one that commits to selfless service. Therefore, I had the fortunate opportunity to be a part of an internship among the Senate’s office where I was immersed in the government culture and immediately exposed to the enormous amount of public outcry towards their concerns. With numerous accounts of concerns towards healthcare and its service I discovered that my calling wasn’t helping from the capital, but rather first-hand with all the concerned citizens. I was able to land an internship amongst the project management staff at Tallahassee Memorial hospital and witnessed the capability of the administrative staff on providing people the help they needed as proficiently as possible. In accordance with my volunteering opportunities in the food banks and veteran rehabilitation programs, I learned what is needed to manage projects for other’s …show more content…

Not only would I have the opportunity to engage in graduate level classes, but I would also have the ability to engage in research and internships. I value the UCF’s educational approach that views the business course education as a component of the foundation gathered by lecture to apply to real-world knowledge. UCF’s MBA program could be beneficial to me because the program has a diverse set of courses that regard all aspects of business allowing me to mature into a well-rounded coordinator. Growing up in a military family, I have been exposed to both the civilian and military side of management. From going on base to experience the operations of our nation’s servicemen to the many clinic visits. Each system had an immense impact in my perception of leading others with selflessness and the common goal of building a team relationship. Even in my civilian clinic encounters, the most memorable management experiences were due to the coordination of the team to consider what the clients needed and to develop a relationship to make them feel most
