When we talk of the consistency of Nazi foreign policy it is worth mentioning to what we are comparing it to in the search for that consistency. The answer is clearly to compare what we now know with what was said before the events took place in places like Mein Kampf, Nazi literature, Nazi campaign promises, meetings and briefings between Hitler and his staff and within the ideologies of the movement itself. This method to find the consistencies within Hitler’s thoughts and actions has its detractors which we shall discuss, but in truth, one must look backwards from an event to decipher its beginnings, as rarely does such rich evidence exist for a well-thought out and methodical programme for domination as it does between Hitler and the achievements …show more content…

In his book Mein Kampf, Hitler hammers home the belief that a “healthy and natural relationship between the number and growth of a population, on the one hand 2 and the extent and quality of its soil, on the other”(Hitler,A.,Manheim, R. 1972 Vol p.26). He furthers this by saying that,“only a sufficiently large space on this earth can ensure the independent existence of a nation….Therefore the aims of our political activity must be the acquisition of land and should as the objective of our foreign policy”(Hitler,A. Manheim, R. 1972, pp115).
Mein Kampf was written in 1925 which tells us that Hitler had a clear set of long-term aims for his version of Germany. The view that Hitler had pre-ordained his foreign policy objectives which had so many variables is open to debate and we will discuss this debate within this paper first.
