Unwind The storyline of novel Unwind written by Neal Shurterman revolves around the issues of second civil war in the United States. The author has overviewed the future of the war and has imagined a world where armed conflict may arise over the debate of abortion. This is why the country came to an agreement and passed a Bill of Life to abolish abortions. Unwind has raised questions regarding the rights of teenagers to make future decisions. It has included a fictional debate over the issue of free choices and abandoning of moral values as the teenager and adults pay significant prices in lieu of their wrong choices and decisions. Pastor Dan believes that those who are okay with unwinding “had just been burying their heads in the sand” (325). They have been lying to themselves. Morality should not be compromised for peace – it simply makes everything worse in the long run. Shusterman teaches his readers this valuable lesson. Shusterman, with this book, has reminded that how often the ethics and morality is compromised when the society tends to find more “intelligent” solutions. Since, unwinding was supposed a way to keep children alive through donating their organs, the interpretation were wrong. Bill of Life was actually the snatching of live from innocent teenager against their will as every living individual craves to survive. Shusterman has really adopted a powerful way to point out how ethics is mal-treated within a society with notions of doing well. People in the society did not understand that they had adopted a monstrous standard for distributing lives among vulnerable teenagers. They highlighted religious implications for killing the children and make their unjustifiably correct which entails for their level of thinking and the wrong perceptions prevailing within the societies. The story has highlighted how the society can turn perverted when opt to find a radical solution to satisfy disputes at both the end. Meanwhile, the author has highlighted how people make excuses to justify their immoral behaviors and actually feels happy after they adopt a radical solution which may prove to be threatening or life-snatching for
