If the transmen have positive or negative experiences in the workplace it still shows how gender inequality is taking place. If a transman receives negative feedback from his employer for not being enough of man because he was in the early stages of transitioning, that is showing that the employer has no interest in hiring a female. Similarly, if a transman is physically passable and qualifies as a male they will get hired much easier in a blue-collar field or receive more promotions than in the past when they were a
Oppositely, others have had positive experiences, which has made their work life easier. Co-workers were open and friendly to their changes and offered helpful feedback to maintain an easy lifestyle while transitioning. There was no judgement which made them feel accepted and at ease. This study connects to Schilts book because it shows how transgender inequality is a huge issue. Admitting that this does not look at trans women vs. trans men, it does represent everyone as a whole.
In this article there are a number of things a social worker can focus on to ensure that all the healthcare needs of the transgendered are met. It is the job of the social worker to provide support and resources. The social worker can work on changing the policies to include transgender people in healthcare coverage and including transgendered services such as hormonal therapy, operations, and wellness visits. Transgendered people have to pay for services out of pocket because there is no healthcare coverage for them. Counseling services, advocating for legislation to provide equal rights, and working on laws would ensure rights in receiving affordable adequate healthcare.
Women and men have their own category of bathroom which is women 's bathroom or mens bathroom. Without a bathroom that separate from the transgender people then many women and men aren 't comfortable going to a public restroom at school and in public. People have this sense that they don 't know who’s coming through the bathroom door , it could be a guy for all they know. Having transgender going into a bathroom they believe they belong in is dangerous. For the fact that a women could be intoxicated in the bathroom but rather than a woman finding her there , it 's an intoxicated transgender going to the bathroom.
A man is a man no matter how he dresses, so letting him into the women's bathroom is absurd. 2. Male perverts and pedophiles disguised as women (faux transgender people) will troll women's bathrooms and sexually assault our wives and daughters" (Lee). We could argue that one might be less critically bullied by using a transgender bathroom or be bullied more by using a bathroom with others of a different gender. For example girls bulling a transgender male using the same restroom as them.
All over the world, Transgender and others under the LGBTQ umbrella for gender identity encounter a large amount of controversy. I agree with this statement because of the inequality between transgendered individuals and cisgendered individuals. Bullying is a huge problem when it comes to Gender Identity; schools, workplaces and even public areas aren’t safe for queer people anymore due to the distaste that some people feel towards these individuals. In some states, schools and workplaces are banning bathrooms for these individuals and are forcing them to use the appropriate bathroom, or the bathroom of their birth gender. The military used to be a sanctuary for transgendered individuals because gender doesn’t necessarily matter in the military
Other supporters remind us that Peeping Tom and Sexual Assault laws are still in place in every state(Gass). If any assault or incident occurs in which someone of the different gender is in the wrong bathroom, it can be dealt with under the Peeping Tom and Sexual Assault laws. “250 organizations working to reduce sexual assault and domestic violence — including the National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence, the Battered Women’s Justice Project and the National Organization for Women — signed a letter entitled “Full And Equal Access For The Transgender Community” last April”(Kotch). In summary, the letter reads that coming from an educated stance, these organizations have gathered that it isn’t true that transgender individuals using their preferred bathroom will increase sexual assault cases(Kotch). While this argument may seem quite bias, there are national organizations doing research on this issue that back this up
Educating and providing awareness about transgender identity may give people more empathy and understanding, decreasing their desire to harass and violate this population. The lecture slides mentioned that “packing” may be helpful for transgender men who may have to pee in a urinal, providing a penis appearance which may help them be safer in a men’s bathroom. Providing education about the facts and dismantling myths about sexual assault may disarm people from their worries about being assaulted due to having all-gender bathrooms. The documentary suggested that cisgender people should attempt to use the bathroom of the opposite sex so they can begin to understand the social “confrontation” that transgender people experience when needing to use the bathroom in public (Mateik, 2014). I went to Pride in Seattle two weeks ago, and even in a liberal, LGBTQ+-friendly space, I still felt very uncomfortable, like I was committing a moral and social crime when I used the opposite-sex bathroom.
Transgenders should be allowed to use the restrooms, it doesn’t matter what sex they were born with, what matters is who they are now. One time as I was washing my hands at a public restroom, I had the experience to see a man enter the women’s bathroom. The women that were there, did not say anything. Later, I saw that the men’s restroom was packed and the man really needed to go. The restrooms are just a place where people go to do their needs.
Do you stop and think which bathroom to use at a restaurant? Do you have to question if you will get judged by which bathroom you use? About 1.4 million adults in the US are identified as transgender. That is 1.4 million people that share the same fear when entering a public bathroom. Transgender people are people who believe that they are meant to be a different gender than the one that they were born to be.
However there is still one thing that they aren't truly accepted to. Transgenders aren’t allowed to join the military, if they are in the military they can get discharged at any minute, for any reason. Here's the problem, they are about 15,000 transgenders serving in the military, some are open about who they really are and others aren't. Technically transgenders aren't allowed to join the military, however if the commander in charge is fine with it, they can allow a transgender to join, if they aren't they can take them out. Commanders have the right to choose whether or not they allow them.

Programs like these can aware the students that they do not have to be ‘normal’, this program can allow students to live happy lives and be proud of who they are, they do not have to live a live that they are ashamed of being transgender. This transgender program might reduce bulling in the school yards. This transgender program is available for students who are transgender and also allows other students the of transgender.
If you look closely you can see that it even happens in our own school. Sam Behm is a perfect example of this he came out as transgender about one year ago and has experienced some backlash ever since. He knows first hand what 's it’s like to not feel comfortable going into the bathroom that corresponds with his gender identity because others don 't agree. Sam said “Obviously I can’t go into the men’s bathroom because people would be like what are you doing in here?” Sadly, he also said “I don’t want to get any backlash or anything for going in the men’s.”
In class, we learned about different types of groups, and how they are viewed from the world perspective. The importance of the gender and sexuality being socially constructed does matter, and it let people choose their identity. In class, we learned about so many different types of gender groups, and one was transgender. Transgenders people are usually people who do not identify with their gender, and prefer the opposite sex.
The term “transgender” is a label that was never used until the mid 1960s. According to history, “Psychiatrist John F. Oliven of Columbia University coined the term transgender in his 1965 reference work Sexual Hygiene and Pathology (“Transgender”)”. When a transgender person desires to be the opposite gender, they may get an invasive surgery to fully transition into their new identity. Multiple transgender people have started to announce the having of the surgery has destroyed their future (Bindel). People have the right to be whatever gender they aspire to be, but transgender people should do public activities and should stay grouped with their biologically assigned sex.
