Power, is an aspect of everything and everyone of all walks of life. If an animal or person think they don’t have enough power, they will start a journey to acquire more power. An animal will fight the alpha male of the group to become leader and humans have a similar approach. Humans will fight, kill, and dominate other humans just to achieve more power. The United States imperialism, Macbeth killing the Thane of Cawdor and King, and Gregor’s cause of his “change” are an example of this approach. The current events from around the world show that people are just like animals, they will do whatever it takes for power. American Imperialism is an example of a negative consequence of the quest of power.
The U.S. Imperialism had a negative consequences after their rise to power. After the United States had imperialized the many countries, the U.S. started to have enemies, which led to the Spanish-American war because the United States had intervened in the conflict between Cuba struggle for independence against Spain. Now it did benefit the U.S. by giving us new markets to sell goods, expanding the military and spreading their religion. But it wasn’t beneficial for the countries that were imperialized. Macbeth can be compared to U.S. imperialism because of the journey he had taken. Macbeth new he was going to be king eventually due to the first prophesy (Shakespeare 219). Macbeth determination to kill King Duncan was caused by him wanting to gain power. When Macbeth brutally stabbed Duncan while he was resting in the safety of the lavished bed in his chamber of Macbeth’s
