This man is strong, courageous, determined, a successful businessman, vice president of the United State of America, but he had a down side, he was dyslexic. These are all things that Nelson Rockefeller was. Mr. Rockefeller was told he would not go far in life. They told him he was stupid only because he had a disability but he was determined to succeed. He tried his hardest at everything he did and made it thru thick and thin. Nelson Rockefeller did something that no one thought he could do...succeed. Some effects of this may lead to a person dropping out of school or in a worse case scenario committing suicide (Landau 48-49). This can happen to anyone it does not matter the race, age, or even gender (18). It can differ from mild to severe. People with mild dyslexia may make minor errors in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar errors, However, they make few errors in reading comprehension and small errors in math like inverting numbers. For example, fifty-four would be changed to forty-five. (30). People with moderate dyslexia make constant errors in spelling and punctuation, A person also has difficulty with reading comprehension, math, and may need extra time on homework (30). People with severe dyslexia will have extremely poor spelling, will struggle a great deal with reading, and have great difficulty in math. There are ways to help reduce the effects of dyslexia. People can use word processors to help spell check while writing. Professionals often have reading materials taped and use those to help process words. Dyslexia was not heard of when he was a child (web). He was in the bottom three in his class. There was no special help teachers like there is today. He was motivated by his teachers and people around him to tell him not to give up. He did not take school very seriously until he got to high school. He was told by one of he good friends “If you don’t try now you wont make it into college.” After that he decided to try his hardest and try to make it into college. He even dumped his high school girlfriend so he could spend more time studying and doing school work. By doing this it forced him to learn to focus. He learned ways to help him overcome his dyslexia. It all payed off at the end of high school he just barely made it into college. After he finished college he made it in business. He was later elected as the vice president. While being vice president he created a company to help people with
