Hi my name is Clatera Chandler and my capstone project is on Neonatal

nursing. If your wondering what Neonatal nurses do they work with newborn

infants born with a variety of problems ranging from prematurity, birth defects, infection, cardiac malformations, and surgical problems. The neonatal period is defined as the first month of life. These newborns are often sick for months. Neonatal nursing generally tends to infants who experience problems shortly after birth. You must be a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). A neonatal nurse must be a registered nurse (RN) with a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN). You must be certified in NR (Neonatal Resuscitation or NICN (Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing). You also will be required to complete a minimum number of years of clinical experience in a hospital setting. Neonatal Nurses have a lot of responsibilities. They have to prepare and check medications, managing a baby’s fluids; recording observations and documenting a baby’s care, and initiate appropriate basic resolution in an emergency situation. Neonatal nurses work different places. Some of them work shifts in intensive care; high dependency and special care baby units. Some nurses work in the community, providing continuing care and support for babies and their families who have been recently discharged from hospital. You'll work with a range of professionals such as paediatricians, dietitians, midwives and other children’s nurses. What are the requirements you will need to become a neonatal nurse?
