"Nethergrave" and "A Sound Of Thunder" are both short stories both written in Third person limited point of view. These stories are both considered Science Fiction and have a setting of alternating life. Nethergrave was set in present day and A sound of thunder was set in the past as well as the future. Both stories use great sensory details to thoroughly explain the story and feel as if you were in the story.
‘"A Sound of Thunder" is based on time travel and changing the way of life by doing one simple mistake. It is a Fictional story with some factual matter. Jeremy's parents are neglectful and most of the time not present. The story talks about how one day Jeremy accidentally scores a goal for the other soccer team. "A perfect kick! Jeremy scored!-for the Middle Marauders" (The opposing team) (pg. 314) Jeremy only had friends online that he had been catfishing. His screen name was "Xtermin8r" and Jeremy told elaborate stories about his life and lied about everything including where he lived. Jeremy then received a message stating "Welcome to Nethergrave." (pg. 320) "On Jeremy's twenty-one inch monitor screen with its sixteen million colors, a whirling vortex appeared, so three dimensional he felt that he could dive into it" "He started blinking until it seemed he was being sucked inside the vortex" (pg. 320) A man appeared asking Jeremy which character he wanted to be and Jeremy chose a jaguar. "Immediately he saw clawed feet running just ahead of his line of vision" (pg. 320) "..Looking out through gleaming, molten jaguar eyes." "…and a moist black nose…" Jeremy's mom came home "...Sorry, I'm so late-i was with a really important client…" The Mother saw the jaguar on the screen and admired it no longer wondering where Jeremy
