Elie Wiesel says “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” This quote helps people believe that they are protected and they can help protect themselves and their people. It also shows that letting things go and pushing them off to the side when conflict arises causes more problems. Many believe that the best way to survive during times of war is to rely on others and hold on to sentimental items. Some believe that holding on to normalcy is the best way to survive through times of conflict.
