The novel “Never Let Me Go” by Kazuo Ishiguro is full of interesting characters. Ishiguro did a great job on putting unique characters that the reader would find interesting. In this novel there are many characters to pick from but the character that I thought was the most fascinating was Kathy H. Kathy H is the one telling the story. What I like about her is that she refers back to her childhood making to story more understandable and for me enjoyable. She starts the novel with “My name is Kathy H.” This meant that the novel was like a story and that Kathy would be telling it. After Kathy introduces herself she explains how she is a ‘carer’ and that she is proud of her work. She always talks about ‘donors’ but does not explain it. From the very begging of the novel you can see how Kathy is very secretive and mysterious. This is why I think she is the most interesting; because we can get to know her a lot better as we read along. Kathy H is well connected to the protagonist because Kathy’s life is prearranged way before she is born. Kathy and many of the other characters like Ruth and Tommy have been created in a way for a specific purpose. Since Kathy is best friends with Ruth and very good friends with Tommy you see the struggle that Kathy is having with her friends. When Kathy goes to Norfolk, you can see Kathy in a unique situation where she is trying to defend herself and also Tommy. When this happens you see that Kathy doesn’t want to hurt Ruth anymore. This one of the struggles Kathy has. She can’t be on the side of one person because the other one will get mad. Kathy does a great job trying to be the mature one and fight with
