On October 29, 1929 the great depression had established a start. The stock market crashed and many people were laid off work in the next weeks. President Hoover believed that it was just a bump in the road for the people in america, but it turned out to be much more. As President Roosevelt came into office, he had to repair america from all chaos Hoover created. Although the new deal programs didn’t actually end the depression, the psychological and social effects in Roosevelt’s programs had a lasting importance on americans during that era. During the first fireside chat, President Roosevelt’s main focus was to have the banking crisis end, so many americans could trust bankers again. In the first hundred days in office, Roosevelt initiated a series of major actions called the new deal¹. Throughout the new deal, President Roosevelt had fireside chats which explained and encouraged americans about the upcoming actions. During his first fireside chat Roosevelt states, when you deposit money in a bank, the bank does not put money into a safety deposit.
