When thinking about a religious leader, the general perception is that the person, whether male or female, is conceptually a good person who cares about others and the laws of their religion. They are viewed as trustworthy, full of integrity, someone who leads by example and is devoted to their faith. What happens when that religious leadership role is broken by an act that agreeably all of society, in many cultures, would deem as sinful and morally wrong or corrupt? In the case of Mr. Green, this feeling of safety and comfort was most likely not the case in the compound that he led. Mr. Green is not a typical religious leader, he uses other people to help commit illegal crimes and knowingly puts people, even his own family, in a position where they have to intentionally lie in order to achieve such crimes. Lying and committing crimes are the opposite of Christian values.The sect leader has also been found of attempting to cover up a young boy’s death at their compound. Deputies in Cibola County believe that a twelve-year-old boy died because he had flu-like symptoms that the sect refused to give medical attention and treat. Generally, a religious group is thought to take care of their own no matter what religion or non-religious practice they exercise. Even if the children were not thought of as a member of this sect, which they most likely were not, generally people no matter how cruel at least attempt to care for human life so that death is avoided when possible. If this sect were truly based on Christian values, then they would have given that twelve-year-old boy medial treatment for such a fairly easy condition to mitigate. The sect would also not have kidnapped children and abused them. Traditionally, based on Christian values children are special and are a part of God’s children which he cares deeply about.
