New Orleans Hurricane Katrina Case Study

223 Words1 Pages
In 2005 New Orleans was inundated by the hurricane Katrina, where 80% of the city area was under water. This natural disaster was predicted through electronic devices that monitor natural disasters and forewarn people about hurricanes or other types of catastrophes. However, there still were a lot of destructions and deaths. The main reasons for that large amount of deaths and destructions were because the government did not take enough responsibility to prevent New Orleans from flooding and to save people from this extreme situation. Another reason was because people were not evacuated from that city before the hurricane. A few centuries ago, Mayan civilization collapsed due to environmental damage, drought, warfare, and cannibalism.
