The NYPD was founded in the year 1845. Today, having a force and policing an 8.5-million-person city, is responsible of a wide variety of traffic management, law enforcement, public safety, emergency response roles and counterterror. In general, The New York Police Department duties are arresting suspects along with completing paperwork and testifying in court, conducting patrols, investigating crimes and collecting evidence, issuing citations and enforcing laws. The NYPD is having basic structure from lowest rank to highest to recruit police officer, detective, lieutenant , deputy inspector officer, deputy chief, probationary police officer, sergeant, , captain, , inspector, , assistant chief, bureau chief, chief of department. The NYPD also apart its police force into enforcement bureaus, which have their own province, patrol areas, detectives and units, often with specific duties. A detective does patrolling for several years and for a minimum of 18 months in an investigative unit. The top most detective is having a salary of $87,278. Sergeant A sergeant performs its duty as field supervisor and responsible for patrol officers. He provides the instructions to the patrol officers and supervises the activity of patrol officers at an operational level. It includes investigating police misconduct and implementing the orders. The minimum salary of sergeant rank is $73,763. Lieutenant A lieutenant supervises the day-to-day work of a squad or unit. He could be assigned as operations coordinator or control officer. He does evaluation and reviews concern of first line officers. As above mentioned duties implementing orders, he also performs the work for holding of prisoners and directing arrest processing..
