He uses some details to show his mother and he had close relationship. Jones states that his mother and he met a rich woman and her daughter who were very unfriendly. The author also states that his mother asked the unfriendly woman for help to fill out registration paper and told the woman she could not read or write. Then, they met a pretty woman who was the author’s teacher.
