When I was in ninth grade, a member of Partnership for the Future came to my school to promote the organization and persuade the students to apply. Not fully understanding what I was getting myself into, I took a chance and applied because the paid-summer internship intrigued me. I was thrilled and surprised to find I had made it to the second stage- interviews, and even more amazed that I was accepted. Applying to PFF was one of the best decisions I made throughout my high school career. My ninth grade self would have never foreseen how many doors PFF would open up for me and how PFF aided me academic wise either. For instance, this year I attended the Capital One Young Leaders Forum for Women and discovered ways to become an active listener and meditate with food. Leaving this forum, I felt inspired by all the remarkable women in the room and for once, felt inner peace.
Additionally, attending the Richmond Forum with PFF, motivated me to chase my dreams of becoming a filmmaker and actress after listening to Nate Parker’s phenomenal speech about directing and starring in his movie, “Birth of a Nation.” The year before, I witnessed James Balog discuss his Emmy award-winning documentary, “Chasing Ice,” to which I was enlightened on how quickly our Earth’s polar ice caps are melting.
PFF also connected me with the Building Young Leaders RVA Program where I discovered my passion for teaching. Working with these seventh graders throughout the year and watching them grow into excellent leaders gave me such joy and pride. Without this opportunity from PFF, I would most likely not be attending VCU’s School of Education next

However, with the guidance and assistance of PFF, it was almost always smooth sailing. Meeting with Ms. Tiera at school allowed me to not only grow close with her, but also allowed me to discuss my current activities and how to prioritize the ones that would better benefit my career goals. PFF provides FREE workshops to every student as well. The SAT Prep classes increased my SAT score by ninety points, the essay writing class taught me how to show and not tell while writing, and the college application and FASFA workshops provided great insight into the process that eased tension and
