Growing is a part of company’s success, and it is the concept that applies to every company, including Southwest Airlines. In order to keep growing, many business strategies are required in order to make this goal comes true.
The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, was written in 16th century, consists of many interesting strategies that are used by today businesses. After reading The Prince, I have explored some main concepts that are compatible to the business strategies that Southwest Airlines did or is currently doing. Those concepts are: obtaining loyalty from followers, having future vision, and expanding strategy.

We can apply the term leader to a company as well. For instance, the leader and his subordinates are like a company and its staff. Follower’s loyalty in both contexts plays an important role in a leader’s success. In The Prince, Machiavelli also shares the same idea about how loyalty of the men can define a prince’s intellect and his ability to lead.
The Intelligence of a prince is CONVEYED through the loyalty of his men
Machiavelli believed that a smart prince will know how to obtain a loyalty of his men through acknowledging of his men’s value. As he stated,
“The choosing of minsters is a matter of no little importance for a prince; and their worth depends on the sagacity of the prince himself. The first opinion that is formed of a ruler’s intelligence is based on the quality of the men he has around him.
