Francis Scott Fitzgerald is the author of The Great Gatsby. He was born on September 24, 1896. He was named after his ancestor who is the author of “The Star Spangled Banner” Francis Scott Key. Francis Scott Fitzgerald was raised in St. Paul , Minnesota. The Great Gatsby was published in 1925. Many of the events in The Great Gatsby are events for Francis Scott Fitzgerald early life. The two characters similar to Francis in the novel Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby. Nick Carrraway was a young moving from Minnesota moving to New york after the war very similar to Fitzgerald. Jay Gatsby is a wealthy young man who falls in love with a young women while stationed at a military camp also similar to Francis. Jay Gatsby was very wealthy he wasn’t happy …show more content…

I think that he feel like he would he get notice by Daisy and find love again. “I lived like a young rajah in all the capitals of Europe Paris , Venice, Rome collecting jewels , chiefly rubies , hunting big game, painting a little , things for myself only”. This an example that Gatsby had plenty of things but he still wasn’t happy. Even though he can have anything he wants he still wants someone to share it with. In this book I was taught money can buy happiness but money can’t buy real happiness. Jay Gatsby was was a perfect example. Although Jay Gatsby was a wealthy man he wasn’t happy at all. He wanted to be with Daisy but he couldn’t because she was married and had a child. Daisy wasn’t ready to tell her husband she wanted to be Gatsby. She also wasn’t sure if she really wanted to be with Gatsby.Gatsby was was pressuring her to be with her and Daisy wasn’t ready for that. I believe that most people live a lie pretending to be someone or something that they are not. In The Great Gatsby Jay Gatsby was pretending to be someone he was not. Jay Gatsby was born as James Gatz but he decided to start going by Jay Gatsby. He also didn’t have any family members that anyone knew
