Judith Harris ones said "Personality is the entirety of characteristic forms of the thinking emotions and behavior of the individual person". Judith Harris a psychology professor states that a persons personality is formed by their emotions and behaviors that an individual person conveys. Scott Fitzgerald displayed the narrator/character Nick Carraway in The book The Great Gatsby as man who displayed compassion, character, and honesty. The personality and character that Nick Carraway displayed throughout the book is a person who stays true to their selves and is compassionate about other people's problems. Nick Carraway a dreamer and a man of character moved from the Midwest to New York, after the war ended to educate himself in the bond business, and hopefully make money. When he moved to New York Nick was caught in the middle of people with hollow and shallow morals. People around him like Tom was cheating on his wife, Jordan baker was dishonest, and daisy was guarded and sheltered from life. Nick on the other hand was a man who saw things in a different perspective he didn't get distaratced by the glitz or gossip or the negativity around him instead he was fullfilling his aspirations while learning about life and the challenges around him. In chapter four Meyer Wolshiem, said to Nick " I understand you're looking for a buisness gonnegtion", then when in chapter five when Gatsby asks Nick, "Why, I thought---why, look here, old sport, you don't make much money, do you?" Nick responded to Gatsby with a utter discomfort because he knows that Mayor Wolshiem is involved with illegal dealings and Nick does not need or want someone's money. From nicks reaction we can tell that he is feeling slightly insulted by this offer for his service in helping Gatsby and Daisy get together. We see that Nick is man that works hard and does not smooch of anybody or finess anybody just because he did one favor
