Introduction In 1999, Nick Swinmurn went home frustrated from the mall because he could not find the right pair of shoes; he also became more frustrated when he could not find them online either (In The Beginning-Let There Be Shoes, 1999-2014). Swinmurn was motivated, quit his job, and became the creator of an online shoe retailer known as Zappos.com. Zappos.com offers a variety of brands, styles, colors, sizes and even widths in shoes. They are more than an online website that offers a variety of shoes, but they focus on speed. Zappos.com makes sure that purchases get delivered to their customers quickly. While all ten of the core values are based on team work and family, specifically number seven states that “At Zappos, We Place A Lot Of Emphasis On Our Culture Because We Are Both A Team And A Family” (Our Unique Culture, 1999-2014). This type of culture is a great idea because employees that think of each other as family tend to care and work together. Employees that are in a family type environment also trust each other more. Zappos leaders should be able to embrace the fact that Zappos employees have more freedom. Management is completely different than any other job. Zappos customer service representative have the type of freedom that allows them to be more engaged with customers. They are allows to chat for hours with customers, write thank-you notes, they send flowers, as well as direct shoppers to rival websites find an item is out of stock (Palmeri, 2010, p. 57).
