About 36 percent of European Jews, or 5,962,129 Jews were killed during the Holocaust. The holocaust was the mass genocide of millions of Jewish people by the German nazis. This period was throughout the years 1941 and 1945 and was the cause of World War Two. In this essay, We will be analyzing and comparing two texts about the holocaust- Night and Maus. Due to its theme and organizational style, Night is better at informing readers about the Holocaust.

The symbolism connects to the story because as you know, pretty much everyone in the book were animals (dogs, cats, or mice). The Jews were symbolized as mice because, at the time, Jewish people were seen as dirty and pests to society. They were also killed with the same poison used to kill rats at the time inside gas chambers. The Nazis were cats because they were almost like predators to the Jews, and Americans were dogs because they fought the Nazis, but not the Jews. I think the theme of this story is that family must always try to stick together because on page in paragraph 4 ___ of the story, the narrator says ‘WE'VE BEEN TOGETHER-A FAMILY-FOR 10 YEARS. WE WON'T LET THEM BREAK US APART NOW!..SO, IN THE YARD, WE MADE A HIDING PLACE, A BUNKER WE SNEAKED, FOOD TO THEM… WE THEY'DAFRAID THEYD TAKE THEM AWAY’. In this moment of the story, the thought of Art losing his family causes him to worry and take precautions or avoid it. In the text, Elie is feeling mad and annoyed at his situation at the concentration camp and is torturing himself thinking about it. He is then offered advice by his elder who has been at the camp for a much longer period. However, Elie does not take it. This happens in paragraphs 4-5__ of the text when Elie is advised by his elders at the concentration camp. ____’ The veterans told us: "You're lucky to have been brought here so late.
