Zach Alderson Nelson Night 2 February 2023 Other Paragraph Thesis: However, the trauma Elie experiences when he enters the camp juxtaposed with the article “The Contributing Factors of Delayed-Onset Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms” reveals that trauma causes us to act in our own self-interest. To start, within the first five minutes of stepping into Auschwitz, Elie experiences his most memorable traumatic experience: a dump truckload of babies being thrown into a pit bound for their impending death. This can be seen on page 32 when Wiesel states,”A truck drew close and unloaded its hold: small children.

Of these eleven million, 6 million of them were Jewish, while the other 5 million consisted of non Jewish peoples (Holocaust Misconceptions 1). When thinking of the Holocaust, many think of specifically Jewish people being mistreated and dehumanized, but this only accounts for roughly half of the lives lost during the Holocaust. Many survivors have shared their stories, and how they survived. One of the most famous of these accounts is Night written by Elie Wiesel.

Would you leave the one you loved most to save yourself? Night by Elie Wiesel is a memoir about the author when he was just a teenager and sent to concentration camps with his family. Throughout the novel there are very detailed descriptions of what life was like in the camps and under SS rule along with Elie’s faith being tested during that time. In Night, by Elie Wiesel ,I strongly disagree with the statement, “Humans have an obligation to help others in need,.” because of the instances where sons leave abandon turn against their fathers.
Death's Doorstep During the Holocaust, more than 6 million Jewish people, and more than 5 million non-Jewish people died. Many people died during these times, and it took a lot to survive. World War 2 was the first display of the total war strategy, and it was hard on everyone. The people who got it worst though, were Jewish people, as they were put in camps and suffered through torture. To survive these inhuman and degrading conditions and treatment, they relied heavily on luck and items to get them through the war.
Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the Holocaust, the world’s worst mass genocide, wrote about his experiences in concentration camps. He wrote the memoir Night, a New York Times Bestseller, told the world how evil the Nazi regime was. Elie Wiesel, a Nobel Prize winner, continued to be a leading human rights activist for all people experiencing persecution. Millions of Jews were deported to concentration camps where they were treated as animals. 15-year-old, Elie Wiesel was transported to Auschwitz death camp where he never saw his mother and sister ever again.
In the autobiographical novel Night by Elie Wiesel, the author shares a transcendent, raw, and personal experience of the Holocaust. Wiesel writes about his experiences of concentration camps occurring in Germany that murdered, traumatized, and dehumanized Jewish people. Wiesel demonstrates this with his exposure to the Holocaust with his family that was separated and dehumanized with a range of different severities, from being numbered to being forced to work with little to no care. The author wrote his memoir to spread awareness to individuals around the world so they could understand how impactful the Holocaust was to those who endured such a horrific event in history. To further spread awareness, the butterfly project was created to help
Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor, overcame his experiences as a teen in concentration camps and became a human rights activist over the course of his life. Before becoming a well known human rights activist, Wiesel was deported with his family when he was fifteen by Nazis. His family was separated upon their arrival at the concentration camp; later, his mother and younger sister passed away while his older sister survived. Elie and his father were then transported to Buchenwald where his father died right before the camp became liberated, making Elie Wiesel the only Holocaust survivor of his family. Elie Wiesel is referred to as “messenger of the dead amongst the living” because he speaks for the souls lost in the Holocaust and provides hindsight
Night is a mournful, bitter, heartbreaking memoir of Elie Wiesel during the Holocaust. Holocaust was the attempted execution of the Jewish race under the leadership of Adolf Hitler during the second world war. Hitler blamed the Jews for the cause of the Great Depression in Germany and so he promised to annihilate the Jewish race by leading the Nazi soldiers. Jews all around Europe were gathered in concentration camps and were starved to death, burned and overworked. Many Jewish children were left orphans and killed.
1.5 to 2 million Jews were shot by the German forces during the Holocaust. As we all know, Elie Wiesel sadly watched a bunch of those deaths happen while in the Auschwitz camp. The Holocaust was terrible as we know how many people were shot and killed during it. Many people in modern days don't do anything to recognize the people who were killed during the Holocaust and don't even take this tragic event to heart. Many people erase this from their knowledge and just forget about it.
It’s hard to believe what atrocities have been committed throughout the course of history; however, it’s important to learn about them. World War II was an especially dark time in history when many types of people were killed by Nazi Germany. “Night” by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography in which Elie recounts his terrible experiences in the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. Elie tells what horrors he had to endure as a Jew and how the Nazis made him lose his sense of being, as well as making him almost lose his faith. Prisoners in the camp were constantly being killed and burned in the crematorium and everyone who was not able to work either died by themselves or died at the hands of the SS guards.
His faith is firm and he wants to do everything he can to better understand God’s place in his life. During Elie’s time in Auschwitz, he becomes confused about his relationship with God. He wonders why he should worship and asks, “What was there to thank Him for?” (33). Elie lost most of his faith after entering the camp.
The first reason why Night should be taught in schools is because it tells about a historical time, the Holocaust, so we can learn what happened back during World War II. In Elie Wiesel’s novel “Night”, the author writes about his experience as a young Jewish boy during the Holocaust. While some argue against whether “Night” should be in schools or not, its graphic content may be too disturbing for some students. I strongly believe that “Night” should be allowed to be read in schools. One reason why Night should be allowed to be read in school is because it offers students a better understanding of the Holocaust, one of the darkest chapters in human history.
