The city of Los Angeles, which is located in California, is most commonly known for being the entertainment hub of the United States. With over three million people in the city alone, it is one of the largest areas in the United States. Many films have been shot in this city, but each one seems to portray it in a multitude of ways. Some people, like Thom Anderson, do not always agree with the ways in which Los Angeles is depicted in films. The movie Nightcrawler is set in Los Angeles and revolves around a poor man named Lou Bloom who finds an interest in becoming a nightcrawler after he witnesses someone filming a car accident. Some of the stories Lou captures are graphic and terrible, but they make great headliners on the news. The city of Los Angeles plays a major role in this film because it was the location for every scene in the film. The first incident that he gets a good video of is a man that was shot to death after a car hijacking. Once again, he is told by the police that he and a fellow nightcrawler need to depart from the scene. Lou makes his way to Channel 6 news in hopes to make his first sale, where he meets news director Nina Romina. He tries selling his footage for a very high price, but only ends up getting two hundred fifty dollars. This will be the news station that Lou continues to work with throughout the film. After making his first sale, Lou decides that he is going to hire someone to help him read off directions. Rick is hired and one of their first incidents happens to be a shooting at a home in a suburban area. Lou sneaks into the house in order to get the best footage possible. Although some of the people at the station do not think the footage should be purchased since it appears Lou broke into the home, Nina still buys it and broadcasts
