Dorothea Puente, born Dorothea Helen Gray also known as "The Boardinghouse Killer" and "Death House Landlady", was born in Redlands California January 9, 1929 to Trudy Mae and Jesse James Gray. Dorothea's father died in 1937 of tuberculosis when she was only eight years old. Dorothea's mother was a heavy alcoholic, locking her in a closet for hours or even days at a time to go out and drink. only to return sick with alcohol poisoning and make her daughter clean it up. She died a year after her husband in a motorcycle accident.
Vanessa Vermont called an electrician named James Volta because she needed some electrical work done in her home. Vanessa wanted a outlet over her kitchen, she phoned him that day. Next, later that day Vanessa's husband was ‘’out’’ he said. James Volta was already there anyway... he had to have killed Vanessa.
Lynn Nottage’s play By The Way, Meet Vera Stark is an interesting play that deals with race during 1933 Hollywood. The two main characters Vera Stark and Gloria Mitchell show how black and white actresses were treated back then. Vera is African American and in the 1930’s the roles for her were degrading such as playing maids or slaves. Meanwhile Gloria, a “white” actress, gets the leading roles for movies. These two women show us how Hollywood treated black and white passing actresses.
Hamidah Waldron Dr. Tennyson HUM 209 25 March 2015 Angela Bassett Angela Bassett is a Yale trained, Academy nominee, and a Golden Globe winning actress. She’s best known for her dramatic roles. Angela Bassett breakthrough role was playing Tina Turner in What’s Love Got To Do With It. Bassett worked hard to fight through stereotypical roles African American women were usually given and she excelled tremendously.

In this paragraph I will be talking about a girl named lizzie borden who was accused of killer her parents in August 4, 1892. She was the youngest of the 2 kids she was born on july 19 1860 in Fall River Massachusetts. But this was an unsolved mystery they had never found out who had killed her parents they never had enough evidence to find out who had done the crime. Which I don’t think they will ever know the truth and if whoever did it is probably dead now. That’s one of the ways I see it because even if it was lizzie no one will ever know now.(Body #1)I had read an article that had said that lizzie and her dad hadn't gotten along the best and they didn’t really like each other.
Being a widow would be very hard for some people. They don’t know how to deal with themselves or how to hold in feelings or even how to act. The worst news someone could receive would be two men coming to the house where someone is and telling that someone that their husband passed. For Taryn Davis, she didn’t take the news well until she started her own program called “American Widow Project”. The AWP helps widows overcome their thoughts and feelings.
In order to conduct the in depth college interview assignment, I decided to interview Lisbeth Luna, a 11th grade from Middle College High School at LaGuardia Community College Lizbeth Luna was born on Ecuador, she came to the United States with both of her parents and her brother when she was around four years old. Lisbeth, definitely describes herself as a Latino/Hispanic student. Lisbeth is eligible for free lunch, she actually stated that she believes everyone or the majority of students at her school are eligible for free lunch. Even though Lisbeth describes her first language to be Spanish, she stated that the majority of the time she finds herself speaking English with her friends and brother, expect with her parents. She attempts to talk in Spanish with her parents, but the majority of times she is always speaking English.

Introduction Historically, few women managed to reach the list of serial killers. Jane Toppan was born Honora Kelley and an ever known American female serial killer. Her murder confession went to 33 cases. Despite this horrible adventure, she was quoted saying that her aim was to kill more helpless people than any man or woman ever lived in the world.
“Lizzie Borden took an axe, gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one” (Miller introduction). This horrific song was derived from the famous murder case in 1892. The victims, Andrew and Abby Borden, were murdered in their home on the fourth of August. The suspect, their own daughter, Lizzie Borden.
Luminescence of the Incident Imagine people standing right by your house and committing horrendous acts; people whom, if given the chance, would not hesitate for a second before taking your life away. Imagine the fear and terror you would feel, and try to put yourself into the position of such a helpless somebody. The poem “Incident”, written by Natasha Trethewey, deals with a person in such a situation.
In My Antonia, Willa Cather pens a nostalgic story focused on a two people with a unique connection. Jim Burden narrates the story of Antonia Shimerda, the girl next door who happens to be a Bohemian emigrant. Jim moves to his grandparents’ house after his parents die; Antonia arrives in the United States with her family and little else. The two are vastly different, but bond quickly on the Nebraska prairie. Most people who study the novel acknowledge the obvious impact that Antonia has on Jim and see Antonia as “in one way or another, the center of the novel” (Lucenti).

Mark I tank saw service in 1916 it was used mainly to break into enemy defenses and overwhelm them with sheer firepower. Mark I tank’s design was bulky and big, it had 2 giant tracks on it’s armor. It weighted 28 tons, armor was from 6 to 12 mm, 6 mm on sides and 12 mm for the front plate. Being such a bulky and oversized machine with less than 120 horsepower it could go up to 3 miles per second only.
