Nikola Tesla was ahead of his time, with all that he brought to this world, things that people thought would be in the future he brought to reality, he brought to the table, like wireless communication. He brought many useful ideas, and inventions to this world. Even though he passed away, he left his amazing legacy with the world that we know today. Nikola Tesla was born to Milutin Tesla, his father, and Duka Tesla, His mother on July 10, 1856 in the village of Smiljan, Austrian Empire. He had three sisters, Angelina Tesla, Marica Tesla, and Milka Tesla, and had one brother, Dane Tesla. Dane Tesla later died on a horse riding accident at the age of 12, which caused Tesla to have a mental illness later in his life, which caused him to have …show more content…
Then in 1870 he enrolled in Higher Real Gymnasium, (Gymnasium Karlovac), which was a secondary school. He graduated a 4-year course within 3 years in 1873 due to his intellect. “An early sign of his genius, he was able to perform integral calculus in his mind, prompting his teachers to think he was cheating” this shows just how much of a genius tesla was at such an early age. Tesla then contracted cholera (an extremely dangerous disease that can kill you in hours) and demanded from his father if he survives than he could attend Graz University of Technology, and his father agreed in desperation. Tesla was ill for 9 months and was near death multiple times, but ended up surviving the illness. Then in 1875 he attended Graz University of Technology (Austrian Polytechnic) and studied mechanical and electric engineering. The first year he was an amazing student, never missed a lecture and got the highest possible grades, but then the second year became addicted to gambling. Towards the beginnings of the third-year tesla stopped attending lectures and dropped …show more content…
How the tesla coil works is that there are two parts to it, a primary coil and a secondary coil, each have their own capacitor. A capacitor is something that stores energy like a battery. The two coils are connected by a spark gap. A spark gap is a gap of air between the two coils that generates a spark of electricity. Then an outside source hooked up to the coils to provide power to the whole system. What happens when you provide one of the coils with power is that it starts to air resistance of the spark gap, current creates a magnetic field, and then generates a electric current into the second coil. This creates sparks in the spark gap. The energy passes back and forth between the two capacitors hundreds of times a second, filling the second coils capacitor. Eventually the capacitor gets so high that it burst out in a burst of electric current. This result of high voltage can illuminate fluorescent light bulbs several feet away with no wire
