Are You Ready To Switch? Nintendo products have spent most of their time dominating the video game market since 1985 with its release of the Nintendo Entertainment System. Since its first release however the technology of video gaming has drastically changed but this has not stopped Nintendo in the least. In fact Nintendo has pushed the bounds of what video games can do and sets the standards for all other consoles to try and mimic or better improve. It is no surprise that Nintendo started advertising the new console almost 6 months before its release. The author of this ad is the marketing producers for Nintendo’s consoles as well as the individuals who produce the content for the Nintendo Power magazine. This advertisement obviously targets those who are already interested in Nintendo products because they are receiving this magazine. The readers are immediately connected to Nintendo on some level and may have many other Nintendo consoles that they have purchased in the past. Nintendo’s main purpose is to present something to an audience that has hopefully been satisfied with other products and will be more likely to purchase this new console by a brand they trust rather than another brand. This immediately introduces the new tablet for the console. It offers a slicker design with removable controllers that immediately combine the ideas from both the wii and wii u. The next scenes show families and friends playing with the new bright handheld controllers. This gives the viewer Nintendo’s family friendly experience, showing that the console can appeal to anyone, at any age. This design really helps to broaden the spectrum for who can enjoy the console. Most other consoles only aim their products towards kids or teenagers. Lastly, the huge upgrade to the system is shown, when two people use the tablet as their screen instead of a television. This design allows players to take their tablet anywhere with them and still have the two controllers snapped on so they can play with friends.
