Many people know the famous underground grunge band for their famous song "smells like teen spirit" but how many people know the real nirvana? In this paper I will be talking about the members before the band, how the band came to be, and the ending of Nirvana and grunge. The band of "Nirvana" was formed in the late 1980's with the starting of the rock era "grunge" (style of rock music featuring harsh guitar chords, heavy riffs and drumming, and whose performers wear sloppy clothes). The original members to of Nirvana where Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoslich, Dave Groul. Krist novoslich was born on May 10th, 1965 being the oldest. The co-producer Jonathan Poneman offered a nirvana single which they accepted. In June of 1989 there album "bleach" was released, shortly after nirvana went on a month long tour across the US. In the winter of 1991 nirvana signed with DGC records and starts working on the their next album "nevermind". On September 24th, 1991 nevermind was released and only 18 days later it was certified as a gold album. After that Nirvana started a six month tour called "Nirvanamania" across Europe, MTV airs "Smells like teen spirit" 24/7 making it the "song of this generation". Nirvana is on the cover of the biggest rock & roll magazine in the world, Rolling Stones. In April of 1993 Nirvana plays a concert at San Francisco’s Cow Palace to raise awareness of and generate aid for rape survivors in Bosnia-Herzegovina. On September 21st 1993 their 4th album "utero" and one month later they go on a three month tour across North America. On January 7th 1994 Nirvana plays at the Seattle Arena, this will be the last show
