Nirvana When we think of the 1990s we think of the grunge era. Where exactly did grunge start? It started in Seattle, Washington in 1992. According to The New York times grunge is “dirt, filth, trash become synonymous with a musical genre, a fashion statement, and a pop phenomenon.” Grunge was literally everywhere in the nineties. It was in a lot of music. Some of grunge bands are Pearl Jam, Hole and the famous “Nirvana.” Nirvana is one of the biggest grunge bands of all time. They influenced society and music. The year was 1985 when Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic met Aaron Burckhard they formed a band called “Fecal Matter.” The band broke up in 1986 after going through different members. In 1987 Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic recruited Aaron Burckhard and created another band. Many bands were influenced by Nirvana. Including Blink-182, Yellowcard, Weezer and Lana Del rey. When asked about Nirvana’s album “Nevermind” Mark Ronson and Lenny Kravitz said: Mark Ronson: “I guess because I'd already been into Mother Love Bone and Soundgarden and bands like that, I knew about Nirvana. It didn't hit me like a ton of bricks. In hindsight, it was just a collection of incredible guitar pop songs sung by a beautiful, tormented man. You look at the mythology of it all, but at the end of the day, it's the songs.
