Food Justice at Trinity dedicates it 's time to provide services to those in need within Asbury Park, because we value compassion, solidarity, and charity. Food Justice at Trinity or FTJ hopes to complete the following with additional funding: expanding the urban garden, and purchasing local organic foods for our guests. Trinity has multiple programs which helps us complete our mission of the meeting the immediate needs of hunger and lead towards a brighter future for Asbury Park. Trinity organizes within Asbury to prevent hunger and injustice in the future through our educational efforts. The only way to prevent hunger is to understand why it exists, this is the education Trinity provides to citizens throughout Asbury and to our volunteers.
Since the percent of people using food banks in Canada has increased due to higher food prices, the cost of living, and the loss of jobs, this explains in part how this issue currently affect the way people live and how they are fighting to survive. Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs that provides food and services to people each year. Together this network is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization. Recently, more families and individuals begin to struggle with hunger due to the cost of living increasing and income from employers not being sufficient enough to feed and take care of a family. Price and income shifts can radically impact the poor and hungry.
Our group has decided to volunteer with Feed My Starving Children(FMSC) which was founded in 1987. Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Christian non-profit organization that provides nutritionally complete meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. Its mission is to feed God’s starving children in different countries who are hungry in body and spirit. Their process is simple. Donations from people fund the meal ingredients and volunteers hand-pack the meals.

Three Bags Full has been a part of the effort to eliminate hunger in our country. It's a massive undertaking, but one that owner of Three Bags Full Cafe, John takes personally. The documentary “A Place at the Table,” features interviews of individuals who share their experiences and stories that lead to them becoming dependent on outside sources to provide food in order for them to survive. Yet every day, there are millions of children and adults who do not get the meals they need to thrive. We work to get nourishing food – from farmers, manufacturers, and retailers – to people in need. Hunger is a serious problem throughout the world, but today I will be focusing on hunger in america. Just for reference, I don’t mean the time between breakfast and lunch. I mean people who don 't know where their next meal is coming from, or are starving. I will be delving into the problems that exist, systems set up to help people do, and what an average person can do.
70 years ago after the war Britain was looking to change people lives by introducing the welfare state: the National Health Service was introduced, new houses were built and municipal swimming pools and leisure centres were opened. We thought this would have been an end to poverty. Who would have thought that70 years later, in this day and age there are people who are starving and struggle so much that they have to go to food banks to receive food. Food banks are very popular in Britain. These differ from food banks where hungry families or people will go to receive a parcel of food.
