Eating food is usually one the easiest, best parts of your day right? With my brother allergic to eggs, peanuts, and dairy, it makes his daily life a lot more difficult. I always nodded along and felt bad for him, but never really understood what he goes through. So I decided to go 4 days with eating like he does.
The point of this in real life and the novel is nonconformity. In the book F451 by Ray Bradbury whenever a character does something that is not under the society’s norm it is frowned upon. The character Clarisse often did things that weren’t accepted in society. Consequently, she was treated differently. When Beatty was describing Clarisse, he says, “Clarice Mclean? We’ve a recording of her family. We have watched them carefully.”(57) In this society, they spy on families for being different. Which shows how bad they react to nonconformity. I would go 4 days, 2 weekdays and 2 weekends to see how society would react to nonconformity. The guidelines were to eat with these food restrictions for 4 days. This may sound like an easy task, but if you think about it, it takes away most good foods. The way to measure success would be by seeing how I handled the reactions and how society reacted to me.
