In 2006, Northrup Grumman created and launched Building Partnerships for Stronger Communities. This is a corporate-wide community involvement brand that is meant to reflect what they believe: The power of one, multiplied by many, equals the potential of an entire community (Northrup Grumman, 2008).
Northrop Grumman has always been a company driven by values. As well as a strong commitment to the communities in which our employees live, work and contribute extends from their belief in volunteer service and collaboration. Building Partnerships for Stronger Communities is a way of enhancing and formalizing both their history and intentions.

Over $24 million was given in 2007, which is an increase of over $3 million from 2006. These funds were donated through the company’s Charitable Giving Program. They directed the bulk of those funds to support K-12 and post-secondary education activities. $5.6 million went to education programs through the Northrop Grumman Foundation which is a separate nonprofit organization (Northrup Grumman, 2008).
That year, Northrop Grumman’s 120,000 employees personally gave more than $7 million to charities such as the United Way, gifts to education, the Employees Charitable Organization (ECHO), holiday giving programs and employee volunteerism, as detailed here (Northrup Grumman, 2008):
• United Way employee contributions = $4.7 million
• Gifts to education = $1.6 million
• ECHO – Employees Charitable Organization = $1.5 million
• Holiday Giving Program employee contributions = $201,123
• Disaster relief = $42,517 for wildlife disaster relief
• U.S. military troop support (Care Package program) = $119,445
Northrup Grumman primary community focus is improving the quality of education through the university level.
