Robert Frost wrote a poem “Nothing gold can stay” to explain that nothing, especially that which is perfect and beautiful, can last forever. “The Outsiders was written to show that you shouldn't judge people by money (or race, color, religion, looks etc.) Three themes presented in the poem “Nothing gold can stay” can stay is represented in “The Outsiders.” One of the many themes is “Nothing gold can stay.” When in the novel “The Outsiders” Johnny and Pony flee to church after Johnny kills Socs trying to stop Pony from dying. When they flee to the church to get shelter and a hideout later, Dallas comes and picks them up to get some food. They come back and their shelter and hideout has caught fire. Ponyboy thinks he and Johnny must have started the fire with a cigarette butt, so the boys jump out of the car to examine the blaze. When in the novel the Socs and Greasers never get along and constantly fight. All there childhood they grew up hating each other. When in a rumble Socs and Greasers fight with just their hands and a mind of anger. This means that the childhood if the person is finished that it will never return. So realistically when the Socs And Greasers grow up to be grown ups they wouldn’t be beating each up and have had as much fun as their childhood hating each other. Another way the novel relates is when Johnny dies after a event full childhood. Johnny dies from a burning piece of wood failing on his back during the church fire and makes him unable to walk again and eventually dies.
