Assignment #3 Two vitamins that I do not meet the guidelines for daily consumption from the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans are vitamins A and D, which are both fat-soluble vitamins. The primary function of vitamin A is maintaining the function of the cells that line the lungs, stomach, urinary tract and bladder, intestines, vagina, vision, skin and immune function. Having a low intake of vitamin A could increase my risk of vision problems such as age related macular degeneration due an inadequate amount of carotenoids such as lutein, zeaxanthin, and beta-carotenes. The recommended amount for me according the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) for Vitamin A-RAE is 700 mcg and for my weekly average I consumed 279.2. If this vitamin is taken in excess it can have harmful effects such as liver toxicity and birth defects.
Yes I believe that this is an infringement on someone’s rights. The police department has the means to track criminals in the appropriate ways. Yes, it probably would be quicker to catch the criminal in their tracks but it is still wrong. For the Katzin case, the police already had a suspect and they knew what type of vehicle he was driving. The person I talked to concluded that they would not take the pledged. Their reasoning was that they thought a pre-constructed hierarchy was wrong and that one person's option isn’t greater than another. They believed that those ideas would prevent people coming together to compromise. Without compromise, there would be an "end all be all" and that made him uncomfortable. It was clear that he wanted to be able to have conversations where all ideas could be accepted and talked about rather than have certain ideas be suppressed.
When was the last time you read a blog post, watched a video, listened to a podcast or engaged with a piece of content of any format and thought “wow, that was an amazing piece of content that will help me solve the problem that has been stressing me out lately”? The truth is if you recently had this experience, you likely remember not only exactly what the content was, but also what person and/or brand provided it to you. The same person or brand likely earned your trust and has a higher level of authority in your mind.
For this Mashup I used the homophones dear, deer, sun and son. I chose these homophones because I felt like they would provide me with many different options of websites and facts for my assignment. For the first term son, the definition is a child that is a boy that belongs to a family. For my websites embedded in my Mashup I provided one that included the definition of son, so that the student could see what a son is.
In interviewing my mother and sister-in-law, I was fully aware that there would be two distinct perspectives relating to health, healing, birth and death. The fact that my mother did not acknowledge our indigenous bloodline was of no surprise to me. That is partially due to the society she grew up in, where repressing any indigenous identity, were rejected influences by colonization and intergenerational trauma. Whereas, interviewing my sister-in-law who is indigenous and identifies as a Kichwa woman, grew up with a completely different philosophy, belief and acceptance. The reason I state this is to give a clear understanding of how these two opposite ideologies influenced my world.
