Do you know what it’s like to have a life in your hands every day? My aunt, Jodie Jablonsky is a nurse anesthetist at a hospital in Buffalo, which is located north west of the Twin Cities. Jodie started out working in a fast-food restaurant and went to a community college close to where she grew up "I had got good grades all throughout high school and college". She grew up on a farm with five brothers and one other sister. The third oldest brother, Toby, went to school to be a nurse anesthetist before her and recommended anesthesia as a career, “you won’t be disappointed, it’s a great profession”. Jodie, taking her brothers advice, focused her career toward becoming a nurse through a local community college. She went for two years and got her Associate degree in nursing. While she worked as a RN at Children’s Hospital and Clinics, she continued her schooling at Metropolitan State University where she gained her bachelor's degree. During this time she married, built a house, and started a family. Determined to continue her schooling, Jodie went back to school and got her master’s degree. She gained employment at a hospital in Buffalo, Minnesota and has practiced there for over eleven years. Over her years she has been in some stressful situations such as: a code blue being called over the hospital’s intercom system and rushing to the emergency room where a man was in a motorcycle accident. The man was a mess- blood was everywhere and the emergency room team was doing CPR. They wanted her to secure his airway but they wanted her to do it in less than 10 seconds.
