Today graduate nurses are using an appraisal tool to evaluate the class before going in to teach the class. This allows the graduate nurse to see how effective the instructor teaching strategy is to the students. The appraisal tool has several objectives that should be completed prior to teaching. In this paper, he/she will see the different topics that the nursing graduate will discuss for an effective appraisal.
Practicum Student Overall Objectives and Teaching Philosophy Observing the class, the objectives that I would use would be precise, tangible, concrete, and measurable type learning. The other type of objectives is having the students to be knowledgeable, comprehending, and can analyze the nursing profession.

Then the students must go to the lab before class and take a mini quiz on the computer. The instructor would review the scores this would let them know who read the material prior to class. By observing the students, they were motivated to read because this allowed them the ticket to class. Ticket to the class system is a series of 8 pop quizzes, using 10 question formats, given at the beginning of lab, based on the assigned reading. 50% of these quizzes will be count as points awarded extra to exams (Athavale, et al. …show more content…

Students characteristics and needs are met in the classroom by having language programs available to assist diverse students. The instructors also have classroom activities that keep the students busy. The students are engaged in instructional activities design in tandem with their own lives and culture. The classroom management is effective. The instructors have a class that is non-threatening, friendly, motivating, positive and conducive to effective learning and enhanced student behavior.
Teaching Approach and Reason The teaching approach that I observed in the classroom that the instructors used was the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Lesson (POGIL). The Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Lesson is approach design to use the real-life experience of the learner to create knowledge and considers how students relate to the environment where they are taught. When engaging in POGIL the instructor assigns text to students and then poses a set of questions that they can only answer by exploring the text that was given to read (Emdin, 2014). By doing this type of approach this allows all students to engage in the lesson plan.
